I think that we need to explore what a 'production-planning strategy' really is. Production can be considered the output and planning can be considered the establishment of a process. This relates some of the topics we have already discussed with one addition; forecasting the quantity of output. Forecasting is important to scheduling, workforce development, managing the supply chain, and capacity planning. Forecasting customer demand is the foundation of planning and making short and long term business decisions.
Class: How does forecasting the customer's needs play a role in how you decide to design a production process?
